Mihai Isac: Whatever Erdogan does has a powerful effect in the Balkan region

The editor of the Romanian site Politicaexterna.ro speaks to Cross-border Talks about the Turkish role of mediator between the West and Russia, about the role of Turkey for Bulgaria, Romania and the Balkans. Isac mentioned that Bulgaria and Turkey have some contradictions over the Bulgarian Turkish minority. Vladimir said that the Bulgarian-Turkish relationship is more ambiguous than it seems to outside observers - there is cooperation and completementarity in it too. When asked whether Bulgaria or Romanian could get inspiration from Turkey for greater "strategic ambiguity", Isac said that in his view even if they sign some gas deal with Turkey, it will not be some huge geopolitical realignment. He also believes that Bulgarians have protested, so if somebody tries to make a second Hungary out of it, protests will limit that.
